The study of science means understanding the world around us. In order to ensure a high quality of life we must be aware of how our actions affect our lives locally and globally. My goal is for all my students to have an appreciation for Life on planet Earth.
"It is every man's obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it." Albert Einstein
Homework - Study vocabulary daily until test. Reread in the text what we've read and discussed in class. For each lesson there will be a related skillsheet that the students need to complete and Daily Science will be given out which are a review of previously taught science concepts. Tests will be given at the end of each unit and students will need to use their notes (work) to study.
Weekly - We will read and have class discussions and do class experiments and/or demonstrations on each lesson. Students will be given a new list of vocabulary words for each chapter/lesson in the science textbook.
Folder - Students are required to keep all of their science work in their binder until test day. Previous to the test I will give all students a Table of Contents which will list all of the work and the order it is to be put in the folder. The folder will be turned in to me on test day and will be graded for completed work.
Science Fair Project - Every 5th grade student must complete a Science Fair Project. An information packet for students and parents will go home by mid-September. This is a graded project and is due by Dec. 2nd. Judging of the projects will take place on the morning of Dec. 3rd and awards will be presented at our Science Night that evening.
